Let me introduce myself…

Hello and thank you for clicking on my blog!
My name is May, I am an English graduate from the University of Bristol and fashion journalist with big dreams! I worked as the Style Deputy Editor of The Croft Magazine, interned at numerous publications and am currently a freelance writer for Wonderland, Overdue, The Circle, Volatile, Marchioness and more... I am a passionate fashion writer and I aspire to be an editor for a fast-paced, eco-conscious magazine (I told you I dream big!). This blog is a space where I share all things fashion from a sustainable angle, from posts on quick DIY and upcycling tips I've learnt from being a broke student to investigative articles on environmental politics in the fashion industry. I hope this blog will inform, entertain and inspire. Happy reading!
First a little about me...
Despite now living in the bustling city of London to pursue my editorial dreams, I have grown up in Cornwall and am a Cornish girl through and through! There's something about the nature and the coast that I've always found inspiring. I have always been creatively inclined even when I had the delusion of studying medical science at university (huge respect to anyone who does this). My hobbies have always been centred around the creative arts such as textiles, music and a growing love of designing outfits. I credit this passion to my mum who is my style icon and who has always inspired me to be adventurous with colour and patterns, in fact, half my wardrobe is items I have stolen from her!
I then moved to the vibrant city of Bristol to study English literature at university. I love that living in Bristol has allowed me to meet many international students and educate myself on other cultures from around the world. I have also been fortunate to be part of the local fashion scene and write articles on the talent of Bristol's independent designers. I have been inspired by the huge variety of styles this city holds and it took me two years of living here, but I have finally adopted flares into my wardrobe! My outfits have developed from the naivety of simple sea-washed pastels to preppy plaid skirts and finally landed on an eclectic mix of vintage, disco and leopard print that I entirely blame Bristol for (although I am yet to buy a bucket hat!). Trying to navigate a student budget whilst keeping up with the latest fashion trends has been a challenge and revealed to me the value of charity and vintage shops that are thankfully abundant to Bristol.
This brings me to 'the big smoke' where I'm continuing my fashion journey. I've already met so many talented creatives encouraging my pursuit in this competitive but rewarding industry. I'm still trying to find my way and wouldn't say I am a proper Londoner yet (still craving the Cornish summers if I'm honest) but I'm trying to take it all in my stride and continue to learn more about myself and the crazy fashion industry.
I am constantly trying to educate myself more on how to live sustainably and apply this to my shopping choices. I have picked up a few tricks to stay stylish without straying too far into my overdraft and negatively impacting the environment.
I hope you enjoy my content! <3
